This is an excellent breathing technique that helps when your having a panic attack or you become stressed. It helps rebalance carbon dioxide and oxygen levels very quickly…excellent! I have done it myself and I can say that it definitely helps!
I have been running anxiety supports groups for about ten years now and have recently started a monthly support group at Bury Involvement Group. Here is a very useful clip-slide by Patrick Mckeown illustrating how breathing is affected during the anxiety state. I have read much of his literature and can say from experience that Buteyko breathing can be a very useful tool in overcoming (in particular) panic disorder.
